Tommy Vercetti is the main character in Grand Theft Auto: Vice City - Definitive Edition. It is a remaster of the original Grand Theft Auto: Vice City, and while Rockstar Games has given the game a graphical overhaul, the game mostly plays like the older version. As a result, Tommy can be difficult to control, and some of his controls can be confusing or new to players.
One of these controls is sprinting. Tommy can sprint for a limited time, a little more than 10 seconds before he has to stop. You can continue moving while he recovers, or you can stand still to see him rest in place. Sprinting allows Tommy to escape quickly or catch a car that you plan to steal. Here are the controls for sprinting in Grand Theft Auto: Vice City - Definitive Edition.

By default, the sprinting control is set to mash. This means players will have to press the sprint button rapidly to make Tommy run. Alternatively, players can change this to press and hold style. To change this, open the menu and navigate to options. You will see the Tap To Sprint option in the controls tab. This is where you can change the input.
